From the moment Katie and David pulled into the parking lot for their engagement photos, I had a smile on my face that didn’t leave until the sun dipped behind the hills. They brought such an effortless joy with them—you can immediately tell how much they genuinely love being together.

We met at the Iron Horse Trail Head in Santa Clarita, California, one of my favorite hidden gems for engagement sessions. The soft, sweeping views of the mountains, paired with that iconic wooden bridge, create such a timeless and romantic backdrop. Even as an Atlanta-based wedding photographer, I will never get over those dreamy California hills—especially when they start to turn that soft, hazy purple in the evening light.

The lighting that night felt especially magical. There was a moment during golden hour where everything shifted—the air softened, the light wrapped around them, and it honestly felt like we had stepped into a storybook. Those are the moments I’m always watching for—the in-between, unposed seconds that feel both cinematic and completely real.

Katie and David were completely at ease with each other, laughing, leaning in, and just enjoying the experience. Nothing felt forced, which is always my goal during engagement sessions.
